Introducing Nic Starr - Author Spotlight, Giveaway

Hello and happy April! I’m Nic Starr and I’m delighted to be spending some time with you this month at Once and Books. Thank you, Bronwyn for inviting me to visit.

I’m an m/m romance author from Australia. I write contemporary gay romance, usually on the sweeter side but with a nice dash of heat. My guys are usually your average, everyday kind of guy who gets his happy ending. I think that’s the element I enjoy the most about writing – being able to weave stories that tell tales of love and spend time with my characters on their journey to their happily ever after.

I first started writing back in 2014 and was privileged to have a number of my books signed with a publisher, such an amazing thing to have happened – I’m still astounded to this day! More recently I’ve ventured down the self-publishing path, and it’s been an awesome journey. If you haven’t heard of me or my books before, perhaps you’d like to check them out. You can find me on Amazon, Goodreads, Bookbub, or on my own website. Use the following link for quick access to these sites.

My most recent release is a box set of my Heroes books. Charlie’s Hero was my first novel accepted for publication, so it holds a special place in my heart. The series features traditional heroes—paramedics, firefighters, etc—but importantly, they are more than just brave men who save lives, these men are true heroes in the eyes of those who love them. It was also exciting to give the series fresh new covers.

As I said earlier, I’m Australian. The Heroes stories are set in a fictional US town, but most of my books are set in Australia. My first Australian series was the Rustic series. It starts with Rustic Melody and tells the story of a guy who’s at a crossroad in his life and leaves the city to find himself. Adam attends the Tamworth Country Music Festival where he meets country boy, Joey. I love sharing a little piece of Australia in my stories.

In the next month, I’ll be releasing Sea of Love where most of the story takes place on a cruise. It’s very loosely based on some of the cruise I took back in 2018 when we cruised from Honolulu back to Sydney via the South Pacific. It was an amazing experience, and I can’t wait until we can do such things again. In the meantime, I’m ‘travelling’ via my stories and the books I read.

I’ll leave you with a giveaway. Good luck and happy reading!

Rustic Melody

Can a boy from the country and a guy from the city ever make it work? Adam Chambers has never seen eye-to-eye with his father and is reluctant to take over the family’s property-development company. To clear his head and work out what he wants to do with the rest of his life, Adam leaves his responsibilities in the city and heads out to see the country. He isn’t much closer to deciding what to do with his life when he arrives at one of Australia’s largest events, the Tamworth Country Music Festival, and meets Joey Callaway. Since Joey’s father’s tragic death left Joey the family’s debt-ridden pub, Joey has struggled, desperate to turn the business around and give his mum the life she deserves. A break away from the pressures of running the pub is just what he needs, and a hook-up with Adam is the perfect way to forget about his troubles. The one-night stand might just be an opening act. If Adam and Joey can follow the music in their hearts, perhaps they can heal each other and create a melody that will last a lifetime. Honorable Mention ~ 2016 Rainbow Awards

Nic Starr lives in Australia where she tries to squeeze as much into her busy life as possible. Balancing the demands of a corporate career with raising a family and writing can be challenging but she wouldn’t give it up for the world. Always a reader, the lure of m/m romance was strong and she devoured hundreds of wonderful m/m romance books before eventually realising she had some stories of her own that needed to be told! When not writing or reading, she loves to spend time with her family–an understanding husband and two beautiful daughters–and is often found indulging in her love of cooking and planning her dream home in the country.
