QOTD: Please tell us about yourself, and what we should expect from your books.

Hi, I’m April Kelley. I’m an author of over forty MM romance books. I write a mix between contemporary and paranormal. Most of my books are set in small towns, even the paranormal. My Saint Lakes/Wingspan Universe books, in particular, have a small-town setting in which shifters, vampires, and other beings try to live quiet lives away from most humans. They don’t always succeed, which is the main plotline for both series.

I’m also rewriting a series set in a town called Pickleville. It’s mostly about how gay and bisexual men make small town life work for them all while finding a love connection.

I live in a small, farming town but also near one of the biggest lakes in the North America, so that setting is something I know well. My characters are what separates reality from fiction. Personally, I prefer the larger community of LGBTQ+ folks, shifters, vampires, and other paranormal beings. If a dragon shifter was my neighbor, I would love it.

My motto has always been to provide readers with a means to escape from the world for a little while and with the year we just had, we all need something to help us through. I hope the stories I write does this even in a small way.

Leave It All

Lucas just wanted to be a normal human being, but normal is highly over-rated.

Lucas Speck had been just some guy who worked at an office supply store and house-sat for his snowbird parents. He was nobody special. Or that’s what he thought before the headaches start and weird things start to happen to him. When people start chasing him his whole life gets turned upside down.

Bennett Somerset is a dragon shifter, who likes his quiet life in his quiet town. He isn’t looking for complications. He already has a family that defines the words, weird and crazy, to perfection. Good thing they live in a small town where nothing ever happens. That is until he smells the most delicious thing in the world and realizes it’s his mate. His little witch of a mate just made things way more complicated.

New Addiction

The first time Caerwyn meets his mate, it ends with rejection, growling, and bear shifters…oh, my!

After his parents die in a tragic car accident, dragon shifter Caerwyn Lewis doesn’t know how to grieve properly, not that he really has time. He has siblings that are relying on him to pay off the debt their parents incurred on the farm. Also, he has a brother who isn’t taking their parents’ death well. The last thing he needs is a distraction, but that’s what he gets when his Alpha calls him in to help another neighboring shifter town. The distraction comes in the form of a handsome but grumpy bear shifter named Rory.

Whispers of Home

A tragedy brought him back home. Can love convince him to stay for good?

Jaron McAllister thought nothing would ever change in the small town where he grew up. The same bullies would harass him for being gay, and no one would really care. Still, Pickleville is a better environment for his six-year-old son than the rundown neighborhood in the city. Despite his low expectations, he finds that Pickleville isn’t the same old tired farming town and some people missed him after all.

Warning: Contains scenes of bullying and violence.
